Kogi State APHPN joined key stakeholders in the state to celebrate World Malaria Day 2026.
The Kogi State APHPN Chairperson, Dr. Mary Ojone Alexander-Onoja, added her voice to raise awareness on malaria prevention and control, stressing the need for _Protect. Test. Treat._
This year, the *Kogi State Malaria Elimination Team 2026*, working with SMOH, SPHCDA, LGAs, and partners, is driving the _Zero Malaria_ agenda through:
✓ Expanded access to insecticide-treated nets
✓ Strengthening “test before you treat” in health facilities
✓ Community action to eliminate mosquito breeding sites
✓ Promoting full adherence to ACTs for confirmed cases
Kogi State has made significant progress, with malaria prevalence dropping *from 16% in 2021 to 8.9% in 2025*, moving from “Moderate A” to “Low A” transmission category.
Key stakeholders are urged to sustain funding and commitment to end preventable morbidity and mortality from malaria.
