Event Overview:
The Community Health Intervention Program titled “Healthy Mothers, Thriving Babies, Stronger Communities” was held successfully today to commemorate World Health Day 2025.
The National President, Dr Terfa Kene was well received by the APHPN Rivers.
Dignitaries present were
1. The Permanent Secretary of Rivers State Ministry of Health, Dr Mekele Igwe,
2. Executive Secretary of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Program, Dr Vetty Agala
3. Representatives from HealthStream Medicare
4. Representatives from the World Health Organization
5. Representatives from Clinton Health Advocacy Initiative (CHAI)
The event attracted a diverse group of participants, including expectant mothers, their families, healthcare workers, community leaders, and health advocates.
The first 30 attendees received branded T-shirts as an incentive.
Services Rendered:
• Health Education: Participants received valuable information on birth preparedness and care of the newborn.
• Deworming: Deworming services were provided to enhance health among attendees.
• Enrollment into the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Program: Attendees were assisted in enrolling in this healthcare insurance program to promote universal health coverage
• Multivitamin Supplement Distribution: Pregnant women were given multivitamin supplements to support their health.
The event successfully fostered community engagement and awareness regarding maternal and child health issues.
Feedback from participants was positive, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in promoting a healthier future for families in Rivers State.
