The Executive Committee (EXCO) of APHPN Ekiti State Branch, ably led by the indefatigable Chairman, Dr. Femi Akinwumi, paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General (DG) of Ekiti State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EKSPHCDA), Dr. Ayodele Seluwa, in his office on Wednesday 27th November 2024. Other senior officers present in the meeting were the Director, Disease Control, Dr. Adeyemi Adepoju and the Director, Planning and Statistics, Dr. Olusola Amodu.
The EXCO had a very warm reception from the DG and the members of his team. He profusely expressed his appreciation for the visit and extended his greetings to all the members of the Association.
The Chairman, Dr. Akinwumi, in his opening remarks appreciated the DG for the warm welcome and noted the achievements of the Agency in areas of immunization coverage, the improvement of the Ekiti State health indices according to the very recent NDHS data and all other activities of the Agency. Other issues mentioned by the Chairman include the relevance of APHPN in the State and importance of Primary Health Care to quality health care delivery in the State, especially at the grassroots. He as well combed the various areas of possible partnership between the Agency and the APHPN Ekiti State Branch, drawing attention to the importance of such partnership. All these were also corroborated by the Vice Chairman of the Association, Dr Tope Ipinnimo in his own remarks during the visit.
In his response, the DG, Dr. Seluwa expressed his commitment and that of all the members of his team to the Association. He emphasized the fact that he belongs to the Association like all other members of his team. The DG went further by requesting to be immediately registered as a member of APHPN Ekiti State with other doctors in the Agency. He also promised to pay his dues immediately as well as promising to attend the coming OGM of the Association and the National AGM that is coming in March 2025 in Abeokuta.
In order to make true his promise on an effective partnership between the Agency and the Association, the DG promised to involve members of the Association in activities of the Agency, including the various Project plannings, which he directed the doctors in charge to commence immediately. After a fruitful and well exhausted deliberations, we exchanged pleasantries and took a group photograph.
