Visit to the Bayelsa Medical University*

‎As part of the Day 4 engagements, the National President of APHPN also paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor of Bayelsa Medical University (BMU), Professor Dimie Ogoina.

‎During the meeting, the Vice Chancellor formally introduced the University’s ASPIRE Agenda, outlining the strategic pillars guiding BMU’s development. The acronym ASPIRE represents:

‎*_A – Academic Excellence_*

‎*_S – Sustainability_*

‎*_P – Partnerships & Engagement_*

‎*_I – Innovation & Technology_* ‎(including the integration of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality into medical training)

‎*_R – Research Excellence_*

‎*_E – Empowerment & Welfare_*

‎The National President, Dr. Terfa Kene, commended the vision and direction of the ASPIRE framework and emphasised the need for Public Health Physicians to be given broader opportunities to contribute within the academic space, particularly in teaching, research, and institutional development.

‎The delegation was later conducted on a guided tour of the University’s Digital Virtual Laboratory, where members observed ongoing innovations in simulation-based learning and technology-driven medical education.
