COURTESY VISIT BY Dr. JOSEPH ENEGELA, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF THE AFRICA DISEASES PREVENTION AND RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE (ADRAP)

Dr. Joseph Enegela, Chief Executive Officer of the Africa Diseases Prevention and Research Development Initiative (ADRAP), paid a courtesy visit today to Dr. Terfa Kene, the newly elected President of the Association of Public Health Physicians of Nigeria (APHPN), to extend his warm congratulations and discuss collaborative opportunities to strengthen public health in Nigeria.

In a strategic discussion held at the APHPN Secretariat, both leaders shared insights on repositioning Nigeria’s public health agenda in the face of dwindling foreign aid and funding constraints. They emphasized the need for sustainable, homegrown innovations that prioritize workforce development, health systems resilience, and community-level interventions.

As part of his commitment to shared growth, Dr. Enegela pledged technical support to APHPN’s Virtual Learning School, a flagship initiative aimed at upskilling public health professionals across Nigeria. He also announced that ADRAP will offer free access to its in-house multimedia studios to support APHPN’s digital content production until the association is able to establish its own recording facility.

“This is a critical moment for Nigerian public health leadership to step up with solutions that are innovative, scalable, and built by us, for us,” said Dr. Enegela. “ADRAP is proud to collaborate with APHPN in this shared vision.”

Dr. Terfa Kene, in response, expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and essential. He noted that partnerships such as this are key to expanding the reach and quality of public health education in Nigeria.

This meeting marks the beginning of a stronger collaboration between two leading organizations committed to advancing health equity, building institutional capacity, and fostering a future-ready public health workforce.
